President's Statement

In the Spirit of Service

The American Legion Auxiliary Frederick Dempsey Unit 266 was formed on April 5, 1924. In the spirit of service, not self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support The American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth, and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.

While originally organized to assist The American Legion, the Auxiliary has achieved its own unique identity while working side-by-side with the veterans who belong to The American Legion. Like the Legion, the Auxiliary’s interest has broadened to encompass the entire community.

The American Legion Auxiliary is made up of the spouses, mothers, grandmothers, sisters and direct and adopted female descendants of members of The American Legion. Frederick Dempsey Unit 266 currently has fifty-three members and gladly looks for new members who meet the eligibility qualifications. For additional information contact membership chairperson Roseanne Roberson at rosiero54@outlook.com.

Our unit meets at the Post on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. In addition to monthly meetings, we sponsor a back-to-school giveaway, Halloween trunk or treat, children’s Christmas party, donations to Veteran hospitals, dances and other events to benefit our mission and scholarship program. Additionally, we also participate in  National Nite Out and assist the Post with distribution of turkeys on Thanksgiving, Memorial Day parade and Veteran’s Day program.
